FAQ

  • I understand that struggling with your mental health can affect many parts of your life—your work, school, relationships with friends, family, and even romantic connections. It can make everyday tasks feel overwhelming, leave you feeling drained, or make it hard to enjoy life the way you want to. If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that I’m here to help.

It’s also important to remember that therapy isn’t just for moments of crisis. It’s a safe, supportive space to navigate feelings of stress, sadness, or times when you’re feeling stuck. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start—together, we can find ways to help you feel better.

For children and teens, therapy is a caring space to talk about what’s on your mind—whether it’s school, friendships, family, or any difficult emotions you might be carrying. It’s not about being “in trouble” or needing “fixing”—it’s about having someone who listens, understands, and offers support. Therapy can also help you learn to trust yourself and develop tools that will help you take care of your mental health long-term. If you're feeling curious or just need someone to talk to, that alone is enough reason to reach out. Therapy is here to help you explore, understand, and work toward positive change at your own pace.

  • After reaching out, you will receive an initial inquiry form asking you to fill in contact information and share with me why you have come to therapy.

Once you have sent this back to me, we will schedule a consultation session. This session lasts 30 minutes and is complementary. The aim of this session is to see if we are a good fit for each other, for me to learn more about what you may need support with, and for us to see if I am the best person to support you at this time. Depending on the age of the client, a parent or guardian may be invited to join part of the session.

If we agree to partake in this journey together, you will receive a therapy contract with all the information you need to know. We will then find a weekly recurring time slot for our sessions. Clients should be prepared to commit to the same slot at the same time each week. This leads us to our first session!

The first session is different from usual sessions. It is an assessment session where we go a bit further than in the consultation and take time to better understand your current mental health challenges, your circumstances, your support network, things you have tried to help yourself, and so on. I’ll likely ask questions about your family, your lifestyle, and your mental health experience so far and how it's impacting you currently. This is also a session where you will start to learn about CBT! You are likely to also get a questionnaire or other activities to bring back to the following session.

I understand that reaching out for help and starting therapy can feel scary and overwhelming. It’s not always easy to speak to someone new about what you’re going through. We’ll take it easy as we build our relationship and a space that feels safe for you!

  • A therapy session lasts up to 50 minutes and occurs once a week. The frequency of sessions is re-evaluated over time and adapted based on individual progress towards goals.

Similarly, the number of sessions depends on the severity of the challenge being addressed, how ready the client is for change, and on client progress. Some clients only need 6-10 sessions to notice benefits, whereas others may need longer.

Therapy is a significant investment of time, and your ideal time slot may not be available. I suggest that clients (and their parents if need be) be prepared to possibly rearrange other commitments such as school or work to attend.

I offer some flexibility when I can, however, clients should be prepared to commit to the same slot, at the same time each week. More information on my cancellation, no show, and late policy can be found below.

  • Therapy is a meaningful investment of your time, energy, and financial resources. It's crucial to find a therapist who you feel excited to work with and who has the expertise to help you reach your goals.

The fee reflects my advanced training and specialized experience as a masters-level practitioner based in France. It covers not just the session itself, but also the considerable time I spend outside of our meetings— preparing for sessions, wrapping up after sessions, continuing my education, creating tailored resources, and investing in supervision to ensure you receive high quality of care.

    Consultation session: Complimentary

Psychotherapy (weekly): €70 per 50 minutes.

You will receive a detailed Fee Agreement with additional information along with the therapy contract.

Whilst I am aware of the difficulties in accessing mental health support due to financial restrictions, I am currently unable to provide sliding scale spots. This may change in the future, so if you may struggle to afford therapy, please do not hesitate to let me know and I can inform you if spots become available. There is absolutely no judgement.

  • The current healthcare system makes it challenging for clients to access sustainable, effective care and often undervalues the time, expertise, emotional effort, and financial investments that therapists, especially those who are early in their careers, make to provide therapy. Psychological interventions outside of the French system, “Mon Soutien Psy”, are therefore considered as non-reimbursed by social security (“Acte non remboursée par la Sécurité Sociale”).

The negative effects of public and private health insurance systems, and the insurance companies that profit from it, are not equally felt by all people and are often worse for those from marginalized groups who experience structural oppression, prejudice, and discrimination. To make my work as a psychologist viable, I do not work directly with insurance companies (“mutuelles”) and am considered an "out-of-network" provider.

However, you may be able to get reimbursed for a portion of my fees from your insurance company (acte pris en charge par votre contrat santé), though this is not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for paying the full cost of therapy upfront, regardless of insurance coverage. I recommend checking with your insurance provider before beginning therapy.

  • I see clients Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm (beginning of last session).

Please note that Wednesday sessions and slots outside of school hours get taken up quickly, and that clients and their parents or guardian should be prepared to rearrange other commitments and integrate their designated time into their weekly schedule.

  • Clients who benefit the most from therapy attend every week. There are many types of therapy and it is important that you find the right fit for you. My therapeutic approach is most effective with regular, complete sessions. Therefore, I require a commitment from clients to attend weekly therapy.

I understand that our schedules change, unexpected things may come up, and there may be times you simply cannot make it to your session. I ask that you give me as much advance notice as possible when cancelling a session. This allows other clients to schedule in if need be.

Cancellations: Every client is allowed 2 cancellations per calendar year which are made 3 working days or more before the session, and to which fees are waived. Thereafter, clients are responsible for the full fee.

Late cancellations: Every client is allowed 2 cancellations within 3 working days before the session, per calendar year. Every client is allowed 1 “freebie” late cancellation to which the fee is waived. The second late cancellation is charged at 50% of the full fee. Out with these late cancellations, clients are responsible for the full fee. Cancellation fees can be avoided by rescheduling a session within the same week. I will do my best to accommodate rescheduling, but cannot guarantee available spots.

    Running late:

    • Sessions will not take place if clients are more than 15 minutes late to the session.

    • Clients who have informed me by email that they are running late will be responsible for the full fee.

    • Clients who do not attend within the first 15 minutes of the session (or do not inform me by email that they are running late) will be considered as a late cancellation and are responsible for the full fee.

If I am not able to attend a session, I will do my best to let you know as early as possible and you will NOT be charged the fee.

  • I currently do not see clients in person. Whilst online therapy may scare some, evidence shows it to be just as effective as therapy in person.

With online sessions, you’ll receive the same support, guidance, and practical tools to help you feel better, all from the comfort of your own space. You can take advantage of the perks of being at home, like having blankets, tea, your pet, or any comforting items nearby. There are now many great online resources that allow us to share a whiteboard, notes, games, or resources.

Online therapy is flexible and accessible – it might take a little time to adjust, but trust me, it works really well once you settle in!

  • To set sessions up for success, clients are required to have:

    1. A device with internet access, a microphone, and a camera – This could be a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Please make sure your device is charged, or that a charging source is nearby to minimise disruption to the session.

    2. Stable internet connection – A reliable Wi-Fi or data connection ensures smooth communication during the session.

    3. A private, quiet space – It's important to have a location where you can talk openly and feel comfortable without distractions. I understand that it can be difficult to find a “safe space” at all times, but insist that clients do not take sessions on public transport, public spaces, or in their cars.

    4. Paper and something to write with – That way you can jot down important points

    5. Comfortable surroundings – You might want a blanket, tea, or any other calming items to help you feel relaxed during the session.

That’s about it! It’s all about setting up an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and able to focus on the session.

  • Whilst I am multilingual, I am trained in English and feel at my best therapeutically when working in English. For francophone clients, I welcome the use of French terms if that helps them to better express themselves, but require that my clients have English proficiency so that sessions can take place primarily in English.

I am happy to review relevant past medical notes that are in French, and write referrals or reports to other medical professionals in French as requested by families.

  • Therapy is a highly interactive process that is intended to be driven by the client. The therapist’s role is to support change and, particularly for older clients (12+), empower you to be in the driver’s seat of the sessions, and more importantly, your life! Having said this, we will likely not be a good fit if you do not want to change or feel ready for change, do not want to practice skills outside of sessions, or rely on the therapist to propel the session. The same applies to caregivers of younger clients.

With age in mind, I have no minimum age requirement, however the majority of my clients are at least 12 years old. This is for two reasons; firstly, research suggests CBT to be particularly helpful to clients 10 and over; and second, young teenagers are often more receptive and able to work online. Having said this, every child is different and I will always welcome a consultation with a parent or caregiver regarding your child and their needs to see if I can help. In addition to this, I specialise in work with children, adolescents and young adults, and therefore do not work with clients over 25 years old.

We would also not be a good fit if I work with you, your child, or your family in other capacities, or know each other in our personal lives.

Lastly, clients with dog phobias would not be a good fit as my clients can be online-visited by my dog!

If any of these are where you are, that's okay! I'm happy to refer you to therapists with a different skillset to meet your needs.

  • When working with young children (6 - 12 years old), parents or guardians are often more involved in therapy than with older clients. Depending on the client’s needs, a parent / guardian is likely to be expected to be in partial or full sessions with the child or around to support technology use. Parents / guardians may also be encouraged to attend individual sessions without the child for reasons such as learning skills to support their child.
