About Me

Leena Dupart

I am a licensed psychological therapist providing therapy to French residents. My primary approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I specialise in work with English-speaking children, adolescents, and young adults. I also incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

I received my BSc (Hons) in Psychology before spending a few years working in occupational psychology. I then went to earn a MSc in Psychological Therapies where I was a therapist to children, adolescents, and young adults in person and online. The future of my work is leaning towards publishing literature on resilience, and continuing my education on therapy for grief and loss in children and adolescents.

I am French/Thai and have lived in many countries on many continents. I deeply relate to the expatriate experience and therefore love working with emigrant, perhaps multilingual, perhaps mixed-race, perhaps mixed-cultured youth and their families.

Beyond my work as a psychological therapist, I am involved in publishing scientific research on psychotherapy and continue to work with families in other equally intimate settings. I am Franco-Thai, and love new experiences, creating, getting people together, and my dog!

My Approach

  • CBT is an evidence-based, short to medium term approach based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact and influence each other. The aim is to understand how changing one of these aspects can positively influence the others.

It is often the case that we engage in thought and behaviour patterns that seem helpful in the short term but are ultimately unhelpful long-term, keeping our difficulties going. My work with clients focuses on identifying these patterns, understanding their underlying causes, and changing them to bring about meaningful improvements in mental health and overall well-being.

Unlike some other types of talk therapies, CBT looks more at current problems rather than those from the past, and aims to bring coping skills to last a life-time.

  • At Bloomwell, clients are believed to be the expert in their own experience and are therefore expected to take an active role in therapy. Clients will set personal goals, notice, learn, explore, play, monitor, challenge their thoughts and behaviours, and will be encouraged to practice skills they are learning in and between sessions.

The aim is for clients to feel heard, learn and develop new skills, and feel confident in independently applying these skills in their lives, ultimately building a life-long toolkit of strategies.

  • Because CBT looks at thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, it can be adapted to address many different challenges.

Evidence supports the use of CBT for ameliorating conditions like anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, and eating disorders, anger, emotional regulation, sleep disturbances, stress, overwhelm, and many others experiences and conditions. CBT can also support people living with long-term illnesses or neurodiversity by providing coping skills.

I believe that CBT is also great for helping people, particularly young people, build emotional awareness and coping skills outwith diagnosable conditions!

I work primarily with a type of talk therapy called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or, CBT. Explore below to find out more!

I see CBT as being the process of building a personalised mental-health first-aid kit that you can use on yourself.

I also incorporate aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) which primarily aim address the ability to adapt to difficult experiences, and mental health problems linked to primarily linked to high shame and self-criticism respectively.
